Fundamentals of Produced Water Treatment in the Oil & Gas Industry Workshop

Description:
 

Produced Water Society has partnered with WEF for this introductory course on produced water treatment. Participants will learn concepts governing produced water treatment including terminology, principles of operation, equipment, and analysis. Experts will describe the produced water market including the US fracking, heavy oil, and conventional oil markets. Participants will be able to utilize concepts learned during the workshop during interactive sampling/analysis and problem -solving sessions.

Biography:
Andrea Larson, P.E., is a chemical engineer with Siemens Water Solutions for the past 10 years, specializing in water treatment solutions for the oil & gas industry.  Her roles include engineering and basic design of these solutions as well as management of R&D projects.  Ms. Larson has designed and tested equipment for the oil and gas industry at the bench and pilot scale including conducting several onsite pilot studies both internationally and in the United States.  She is currently leading several R&D projects with the goal of developing technologies to economically meet stringent treatment requirements.

Biography:
Chris Catalanotto is the Business Development Manager for the Upstream Product Line offered by Siemens Water Solutions and is based in Houston, Texas. As a native from New Orleans, Louisiana he attended the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, LA where he received his degree in Industrial Engineering.    Over the past 11 years with Siemens in Oil and Gas, Chris has filled many roles, often at the same time, such as Principal Application Engineer, Capital Project Manager and Upstream Technical Support Engineer.  During this time, Chris has also developed a global network within the upstream oil and gas industry and has an excellent understand of the direction and challenges being faced by the industry.

PACT MBR Delivers New Design and Operating Criteria for Reuse of Refinery and Petrochemical Wastewater

Description: 
This session will discuss the results of a 3-year study demonstrating the successful performance of biomass/powdered activated carbon MBR using submerged ceramic membranes. Effluent COD, Total Nitrogen, oil and grease, Trans Membrane Pressure, and fouling rate trends are presented, and footprint and capital cost estimate comparisons to traditional treatment approaches are made.


Biography:
Mr. Cunningham received his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, both from Manhattan College, New York, USA and has more than 40-years experience in the design, start-up and operations optimization of industrial wastewater treatment and reuse facilities for the oil and gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, pulp and paper, and food processing industries.
