Siemens USA Strengthens Government Affairs Organization

Brie Sachse to lead senior team of political and policy experts on key issues aligned to the company’s priorities

February 11, 2021

Today, Siemens USA announced several changes to its Government Affairs organization aimed at continuing to build out its roster of policy experts who will advance the company’s strategic business priorities across infrastructure, technology, advanced manufacturing, mobility and workforce.

To lead this team, the company has appointed Brie Sachse as Vice President and Head of Government Affairs for Siemens USA. In this role, Sachse will be responsible for driving a robust legislative and policy agenda in support of the company’s business objectives and will oversee the team’s stakeholder engagement with policymakers, industry and business associations, and other strategic partners both in Washington, D.C., and nationally. Sachse joined Siemens in 2013 as a senior leader on the Corporate and Public Affairs team, where she developed a deep understanding of the company’s technology portfolio and business needs. Prior to Siemens, Sachse held positions in the Obama-Biden Administration at the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and at the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). She began her career in Orlando, Florida, where she served as Chief of Staff for Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, helping to drive policy matters and key legislative priorities while managing stakeholder relationships to advance the administration's vision and goals.

Siemens USA also announced the promotion of two of its longstanding, strategic Government Affairs leaders, elevating Abby Campbell-Singer to Senior Director and Head of Climate and Infrastructure Policy and Harrison Wadsworth to Senior Director and Head of Digital and Transportation Policy. They are joined by Hill veteran Drew Wayne, who joined Siemens in 2020 and serves as Head of Tax, Trade & Foreign Policy. Working with Senior Vice President & General Counsel Ann Fairchild, the Government Affairs team will continue to serve as policy champions, positioning the company with external stakeholders to advance Siemens U.S. legislative agenda. David McCarthy is also joining the Washington, D.C., government affairs operation in a newly created role as Policy & Legislative Analyst. Additionally, Siemens is bolstering its state & local government affairs programs with a new Director of External Affairs, Ryan Dalton, who will be based in New York City.

“This core team of seasoned public policy experts will play a crucial role in bringing a policy lens to the opportunities where Siemens technologies and services can help address our nation’s most significant challenges,” said Barbara Humpton, CEO of Siemens USA. “Led by Brie with a strategic mindset and more than 15 years of expertise in local, state and federal government, this team will continue to be an invaluable asset in advancing the company’s U.S. priorities.”

As Director of External Affairs, Dalton will represent Siemens businesses with policymakers and other key stakeholders to protect critical markets, drive business growth and promote Siemens as a partner of choice. Prior to joining Siemens, Dalton served as Senior Director of State Affairs at the BGR Group and as a member of the Democratic Governors Association (DGA) Finance Committee. Dalton also spent more than a decade serving three New York governors in both Albany and Washington, D.C., most recently as Senior Policy Advisor and Deputy Director within New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Washington office. Dalton joins a senior team of government affairs professionals in place driving Siemens U.S. regional strategies across the country.

As Policy & Legislative Analyst, McCarthy will support the company’s government affairs operation by tracking current and pending legislation and its potential impact on the company’s businesses. Prior to joining Siemens, McCarthy gained experience working in state government relations and, most recently, was part of a D.C.-based tech start-up.
