Congratulations to Georgia-Pacific for opening its Supply Chain Innovation Center

Congratulations to Georgia-Pacific for opening its Supply Chain Innovation Center

By Anne Cooney, President, Process Industries and Drives, U.S.

Georgia-Pacific recently announced that the company would be opening Point A Center for Supply Chain Innovation in the heart of Midtown Atlanta at TechSquare Labs. And I’m very proud to announce that Siemens will be one of the key partners working with Georgia-Pacific to provide expertise in digitalization and automation.

This is another win for the City of Atlanta. But that is no surprise considering Georgia is the #1 state for business climate, the # 1 state for business, and the #1 state for economy, according to the Metro Atlanta Chamber. Atlanta is a hub for technology and innovation creating one of the fastest growing, high-tech urban centers in the nation as well as leading the way in the Internet of Things and in creating a national center for innovation and industry growth.

Point A Center for Supply Chain Innovation will serve as a collaborative space for businesses ranging from multi-national corporations to emerging startups and academic institutions. We are excited to collaborate with Georgia-Pacific and its partners to work on solving some of the biggest challenges the manufacturing supply chain faces.

As Kevin Heath, Georgia-Pacific senior vice president and chief procurement officer, put it: “Siemens is a company that understands real-world innovation and execution, which is why they will be such an asset to Point A. We have seen what they are capable of with other customers, as well as in developmental projects at the Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute (DMDII) in Chicago. With Siemens onboard, Point A will benefit from some of the world’s leading industrial digitalization thinkers.”

Point A will add another accolade to Atlanta’s technology industry by boosting Atlanta’s position as the #SupplyChainCity transforming physical supply chain assets into digital networks all powered by the Internet of Things. We look forward to sharing the digital journey with the supply chain industry!
