SCCR - Determining Short-Circuit Current Rating
Calculation and marking of SCCR, or short-circuit current rating, of industrial control panels has been required by the National Electric Code (NFPA70) since April 2006. Industrial control panels, according to US codes and standards, must be designed to withstand the available short-circuit current. Therefore, the short circuit current rating (SCCR) of a control panel must always be specified. The following white paper discusses the relevant codes and standards for SCCR and offers assistance in calculating the SCCR in three easy steps.
