Panel Building Days

Siemens provides free training and support for control panel standards, design and methods for more efficient engineering - helping you be more competitive and stay ahead of your competition. Learn more about our panel building days events below.

Panel Building Days is a free, one-day event on industrial control panels sponsored by Siemens. These events are held throughout the year in different markets across the U.S. The event covers topics including:

  • Industrial control panel standards for the US
  • Control panel engineering tools and best practices

The events typically run from 8:30 A.M until 3:00 P.M. with complimentary lunch. Participants will get free access to our control panel value pack which includes all presentations from the event and additonal bonus topics. Learn more about these topics in the subsequent tabs.

Understanding control panel standards

Are you looking for a refresher on control panel standards or interested in learning about recent changes to control panel standards in the US? Then this is just for you. In this portion of the event, we will cover the most important control panel standards topics and provide an overview of recent changes the the National Electric Code (NEC), UL508A for Industrial Control Panels and NFPA79 for Industrial Machinery.

The main topics that are covered:

  • Background and overview of control panel standards
  • Power supply systems
  • Incoming supply circuit requirements
  • Power circuit requirements
  • Calculating short-circuit current rating (SCCR)
  • What's new in industrial control panel standards

In addition to the topics above, participants will recieve our interactive value pack on control panel standards which includes additional topics such as control circuit requirements, protective measures, enclosure types, grounding, markings and documentation, and more. Participants are expected to have a working knowledge of control panel standards.

Efficient control panel engineering

Are you looking for ways to reduce costs in your control panels? One of the greatest opportunities to reduce costs is to improve your engineering efficiency. Siemens provides panel builders with free tools and data to do just that. In this portion of the seminar, we will overivew the various free tools and data that Siemens provides for the engineering process. We will overview how to access and use these tools and discuss best practices for improving engineering efficiency.

We will overivew the following:

  • Overview of available Siemens tools & data types
  • TIA Selection Tool - the single tool for product selection and configuration
  • CAx Download Manager for collection of up to 12 different data types in just minutes
