Jump to
Helical bevel are angular geared motors where the gear unit output shaft is rotated 90° to the motor shaft. Units can either have a solid or a hollow shaft. Helical bevel geared motors represent the ideal solution for drive tasks where an angular geared motor with high power density is required with continuously high output torques
SIMOGEAR helical bevel geared motors can reach high gear ratios and they are highly energy efficient (efficiencies 98% per stage). They are also able to achieve high gear ratios and have high power density. They can be used in narrow constructions – places with delimited spatial conditions. Offered in stages 2 and 3 in foot or flange-mounting version with solid or hollow shafts, SIMOGEAR helical geared motors are used for baggage and material handling conveyors, rope lifts in warehouse logistics and for carriage drives.
SIMOGEAR helical bevel geared motors are available for the power range up to 20 Hp (15 kW) and rated gear unit torques up to 5,900 ft-lb (8,000 Nm).
The 2 percent advantage
SIMOGEAR 2-stage helical bevel unit yield higher ratios in the first gear stage than traditional designs. All told, the unit averages 2% higher efficiency than 3-stage units. For any continuous duty application, that translates to substantial energy savings over the long term.

Parallel shaft geared motors are the modern version of coaxial geared motors. As a result of their compact and short design, they take up less space than helical geared motors. Parallel shaft geared motors can either have a solid shaft - or alternatively a hollow shaft as so-called plug-on gear unit. This means that the geared motor is optimally integrated into the driven machine. Additional components - e.g. such as gear wheels or chain wheels - to transmit the force to the driven machine are eliminated. Parallel shaft geared motors represent the space and weight-saving solution within the range of coaxial geared motors.
SIMOGEAR parallel shaft geared motors are available for the power range up to 20 Hp (15 kW) and rated gear unit torques up to 5,900 ft-lb (8,000 Nm).
SIMOGEAR parallel shaft geared motors boast high energy efficiency (efficiencies of 98% per stage) and reach high gear ratios thanks to the plug-in pinion where it's possible to have a hollow shaft on both sides. They have 2 or 3 stages and are mounted with foot or flange-mounting, housing flange or shaft mounting with torque arm, can be provided with solid shaft, hollow shaft, splined hollow shaft or hollow shaft with shrink disc. SIMOGEAR parallel shaft geared motor are typically used for agitator drives, carriage drives, shelf access equipment and vertical conveyors.

Worm gear motors are single or two-stage angular gear motors with high-performance worm gearing. They represent the space-saving solution for simple applications in the low torque range as a result of their compact design with low height. They can be individually adapted to many drive situations due to the wide range of output shafts and mounting possibilities.
SIMOGEAR worm gear motors are available in the power range up to 15 Hp (11 kW) and rated gear unit torques up to 1,040 ft-lb (1,410 Nm). These motors are very silent and represent an economic solution especially for low power ranges. They achieve high gear ratios and can be also used in narrow spaces due to their compact design. Available with 1 or 2 stages, they are offered in foot or flange-mounting versions. SIMOGEAR worm geared motors also feature SIMOLOC keyless tapered hollow shaft locking system with solid or hollow shafts. These types of motors are typically used for small conveyor systems or rope lifts.

When developing SIMOTICS S-1FG1 servo geared motors, special emphasis was placed on the optimum coordination with the SINAMICS S120 drive systems. Motors, drives and commissioning tools are optimally coordinated and harmonized with one another. The system can be quickly commissioned as a result of the electronic type plate and the fact that the motors are connected via the DRIVE-CLiQ system interface. Prefabricated MOTION-CONNECT signal and power cables mean that the components can be simply and perfectly connected with one another.
The SIMOTICS S-1FG1 servo gear motors have smaller dimensions, weigh less and have a higher dynamic response than standard induction geared motors. The range of types includes helical, parallel shaft, bevel and helical worm geared motors in the usual frame sizes and speed/torque classes. SIMOTICS S-1FG1 servo geared motors use the same operating heads as SIMOGEAR geared motors.
As a complete system, the reluctance motor with the gearbox and the drive are perfectly coordinated and enable best-in-class operational results.
The synchronous reluctance solution allows for application in many different fields and with several major technical benefits compared to a standard asynchronous solution. They are very easy to service due to the nature of the synchronous-reluctance solution.
The system is typically used for rollers, chains and belt conveyors within the baggage and cargo handling facilities at airports. It also fits within warehouses and distribution logistics and in postal and packaging. It can be found used in hoisting gears, scissor lift tables and monorail conveyors as well as in rollers, chains, belts and skids used in the automotive industry.
The SIMOGEAR reluctance geared motor is particularly suited to conveyor technology and general machinery systems where an application with high energy efficiency is demanded. Together with the right drive, the portfolio is very extensive.
Reluctance geared motors yield extremely high energy efficiency, especially in partial load with motor efficiency comparable to IE4. The motors can reach precise speed even without an encoder. It is also possible to achieve high permanent overload in its high speed range.
In addition to versions with integrated motors, the SIMOGEAR series is also available with motor adapters for the use of various motors. Due to the specially designed traction group, the entire variety of Siemens motors can be mounted. That is true for asynchronous as well as synchronous motors. With the newly developed short coupling adapters, the right geared motor are available for every application.
SIMOGEAR adapter currently include:
- NEMA motor adapters - there are two possibilities for the mounting of NEMA standard motors. We suggest the short adapter K5 for universal use and the coupling adapter K3 for more sophisticated use. The adapters can be mounted on all types of SIMOGEAR.
- IEC motor adapters - there are two possibilities for the mounting of IEC standard motors. We suggest the short adapter K4 for universal use and the coupling adapter K2 for more sophisticated use. The adapters can be mounted on all types of SIMOGEAR and are in accordance with the dimensions of the IEC standard flange (B5).
- Motor adapters for servomotors - the adapters for servomotors are based on three versions. The first one is the new KS adapter available for SIMOTICS S-1FL6, S-1FK2, S-1FK7, S-1FT7, M-1PH8 and is extensively widening the Siemens drive system portfolio for servomotors. Second, the KQ adapter designed for the SIMOTICS S-1FK7 and SIMOTICS S-1FT7 synchronous servomotors. The third type is the K8 adapter available for SIMOTICS M-1PH8 asynchronous servomotors.
SIMOGEAR KS adapter – simplified handling for high-precision motion control applications
Flexible, adaptable and compact, this solution enables you to link different gear unit types to various SIMOTICS servomotors rather than using a separate dedicated adapter for each motor – significantly simplifying handling.
The benefits of this new adapter solution include shorter downtimes and lower costs thanks to simple installation and removal, optimized stock keeping and a backlash-free design enabling connectivity with no feather key as standard for high-precision applications. The solution is particularly suited for use in applications involving stringent demands in terms of precision, positioning, dynamics, compactness and weight.
