The versatile, forward-looking extra low voltage servo drive system

MICRO-DRIVE
SIMATIC MICRO-DRIVE is a servo drive system in the extra-low voltage range. Comprised of the drive unit, along with flexible motors and connecting cables of selected product partners, MICRO-DRIVE expands the Siemens drive portfolio to address a number of unique motion control applications. Examples include drives for storage and retrieval machine shuttles and high bay racking systems, driverless transport systems as well as medical applications such as safely and reliably moving MRT examination tables and precisely and automatically aligning ceiling-mounted devices in radiographic applications. Developed inside the industry-leading Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) system, MICRO-DRIVE looks ahead to digitalization capabilities that are already revolutionizing industrial processes.
Choices for versatility
To cover as many applications in this specialized motion control category, MICROD-CRIVES are available in two versions: PDC is a PROFINET participant with a focus on higher performance and extended safety funtionalities (e.g. SS1 and SLT). TM drives are designed for basic performance with focus on compactness and simple safety requirements.SIMATIC MICRO-DRIVE PDC (ProfiDrive-Control) standalone servo drive system is versatile, seamless, and safe for applications in the extra-low voltage range from 24 to 48V. It covers a wide range of applications, including precise positioning, shuttles for storage and retrieval machines and storage systems, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and medical technology.
MICRO-DRIVE PDC variants
Part 1: Easy Configuration and Ordering
Easy dimensioning according to a defined mechanical load with TIA Selection Tool and ordering all selected components via Industry Mall.
Part 2: Basic Commissioning
Hardware configuration on TIA Portal, fine tuning with automatic tuning function and operation of the motor via Drive control panel.
Part 3: Positioning with the Technology Object
Commissioning with TO_PositioningAxis on TIA Portal and operation of the motor via Axis control panel.
Part 4: Project Planning of the "SINA_SPEED" Function Block
Configuration and commissioning of the Sina_Speed function and operation of the motor via PDC digital inputs.
Part 5: Commissioning of the safety functions
Configuration, commissioning and testing the safety functions STO and SLT extended function. Activation of the STO function via external hardware using PROFIsafe communication and a safety program on TIA Portal.
MICRO-DRIVE TM are the new compact members of the MICRO-DRIVE family. The TM drives support dynamic and precise positioning in the smallest of spaces in the power range of up to 280 watts.
As a technology module for the SIMATIC ET 200SP., the MICRO-DRIVE TM can be controlled from a SIMATIC S7-1500 / 1200 via technology objects (TO). In distributed system concepts, the TM Drives can be used in conjunction with a Distributed Controller or the SIMATIC ET 200SP Open Controller.
Part 1: Starter-Kit
Unboxing F-TM Starter-Kit and IP configuration on TIA Portal
Part 2: Commissioning the motor of the Starter-Kit
Hardware configuration and commissioning with TO_SpeedAxis on TIA Portal. Fine tuning by using integrated trace function.
Part 3: Commissioning of a third-party motor
Third-party motor configuration and commissioning with TO_SpeedAxis on TIA Portal. Fine tuning by using integrated trace function.
Some great examples
The MICRO-DRIVE servo drive system can be combined with motors and connecting cables manufactured by many third-party vendors
In order to meet as many customer requirements as possible in the field of drive technology, Siemens relies on the individual and complementary products of selected partners for the motors and connecting cables of this servo drive system. As a result, an optimal combination of the best products from Siemens and our partners in the Siemens Product Partner Program is available to our customers.Product Partners are external companies outside of Siemens AG and its affiliated companies.
