SINAMICS G120 modular vector drives
The SINAMICS G120 family of closed-loop vector drives offers high levels of integrated safety, energy savings, and network connectivity. Available in three voltage variants for connection to 200, 400 and 690V with power ratings from ½ to 400 Hp (0.37 to 250 kW), this modular and scalable standard drive may be configured in a wide variety of designs to meet a vast array of industrial drive applications. In addition, built-in math and logic eliminate the need for a separate PLC. The EN 60204 safety functions of the SINAMICS G120 are fully integrated into the drive and include Safe Torque Off, Safe Stop 1, Safety Limited Speed and Safe Brake Control. As a result, production plants obtain greater levels of safety while requiring less overhead to integrate the drives into fail-safe, automation, and drive environments. It's all about modularity: mix & match with a host of combination optionsThe Control Unit controls and monitors the Power Module and the connected motor using multiple selectable closed-loop control types. It supports communication with a local or central controller and monitoring devices. The Power Module supplies the motor in a power range from 0.75 to 400 Hp (0.55 to 250 kW.) It features state-of-the-art IGBT technology with pulse width modulation for extremely reliable and flexible motor operation. Comprehensive protection functions provide a high level of protection for the power module and the motor.

Using the latest power component technology, the PM240-2 Power Modules offer many benefits not seen before in general purpose variable frequency drives (VFDs). With higher power densities, matching control units and operator panels, enhanced vector control, basic positioning capabilities, the new G120 proves to be a best-in-class VFD.
The industry-leading power module for standard applications in mechanical engineering. PM240-2 includes a braking chopper (four-quadrant applications) and is suitable for a large number of applications in general mechanical engineering.
Power module PM240-2 is available for the following voltage and power ranges:
- 1 AC 200 – 240V: 0.75 – 5 Hp (0.55 – 4.0 kW)
- 3 AC 200 – 240V: 7.5 – 75 Hp (5.5 – 55 kW)
- 3 AC 380 – 480V: 0.75 – 400 Hp (0.55 – 250 kW)
- 3 AC 500 – 690V: 15 – 250 Hp (11 – 250 kW)
The push-through configuration includes the same features as the built-in versions, but dissipate the majority of the heat loss outside the control cabinet. The modules come in six frame sizes FSA - FSF and are available for the following voltage and power ranges:
- 3 AC 200 - 240V: 1, 3, 5, 25, 40, 75 Hp (0.75, 2.2, 4, 18.5, 30, 55 kW)
- 3 AC 380 - 480V: 4, 10, 20, 50, 75, 175 Hp (3, 7.5, 15, 37, 55, 132 kW)
The ideal power module for requirements with regenerative power feedback. This means that any braking energy is directly fed back into the supply system (four-quadrant applications – a braking chopper is not required).
The PM250 power module is available for the following voltage and power ranges:
- 3AC 380 – 480V ±10%: 10 – 125 Hp (7.5 – 90 kW)
The Control Unit (CU) controls and monitors the power module and the connected motor in several selectable operating modes. It supports communications to a local control as well as to monitoring devices and equipment networks ensure exceptional drive performance that may be integrated to the field level. In addition to control functions, the CU can also perform other tasks which can be adapted to the relevant application by parameterization. Siemens has designed several CUs for the SINAMICS G120 focusing on various applications.

With the SINAMICS G120 Smart Access Module, wirelessly connect your mobile devices (smartphone, tablet, laptop) via WiFi to the SINAMICS G120 drive, providing a powerful tool with numerous functions for wireless commissioning, diagnostics and service. The module is set up in just a few steps. With its web server function, no installation or downloading of additional software are required – a standard web browser and a commercially available operating system are all you need. The user interface of the SINAMICS G120 Smart Access Module is simple and intuitive in its configuration and use.

The mounted IOP-2 Intelligent Operator Panel and its remote handheld version allow fast local setup, fault diagnostics and intuitive operation of SINAMICS G120 drive series and simplifies the adjustment of settings during operation. It features an intuitive central multifunctional sensor control wheel.
There are three methods of using the IOP-2: Directly plugging it into the control unit of the drive, mounting in the door for operation outside the control cabinet, and as an IOP handheld unit for wired operation in difficult-to-access locations.

The menu-based operation and 2-line display of the BOP-2 Basic Operator Panel facilitate local commissioning of the SINAMICS G120 drive series. Simultaneous display of the parameter and parameter value, as well as parameter filtering, means that commissioning of a drive can be performed easily and, in most cases, without a printed parameter list.
The BOP-2 is available as an additional option for the SINAMICS G120 drives series.

SINAMICS G120 wall mount kits allow simple, direct mounting of G120 modular and G120C compact PM240-2 drives. Designed for use with the latest SINAMICS drives, these low-cost kits are easy-to-install and conform to NEMA 1 and UL Type 1 standards.
Available in power ranges from ½ to 200 hp, and for voltages from 230V to 690V, the streamlined, compact design is consistent for all frame sizes and provides for simple interior mounting.
