Features & Benefits:

  • 2 inch wide plug-on design
  • Includes (2) 1 Pole circuits breakers and therefore there is no loss of load center spaces
  • Easy to install and perfect for retrofit
  • LEDs provide protection status

Functionality:

  • Two green LED indicator lights are provided to show that surge protection is provided for all circuits connected to the panelboard. As a Siemens exclusive feature, the device notifies the owner of loss of surge protection by tripping one or both of the circuit breakers. These breakers should be used for circuit protection of frequently used household or facility circuits because the lights and devices connected to these circuits provide an effective indication that surge protection is being provided.
  • If one or both of the circuit breakers have tripped, turn both circuit breakers to the "OFF" then "ON" position. If either light is not illuminated, the device may still be used for circuit protection, but surge protection is no longer provided and the device should be replaced by a qualified electrician.
  • The circuit breaker and SPD utilize Siemens-built 150V AC, 40mm, metal oxide varistors (MOVs). The maximum impulse rating for the SPD module is 40kA. The standard interrupting rating for the circuit breakers is 10k AIC. The circuit breakers are SWD and HACR rated.
-All Type QP circuit breakers and SPD are plug-on style, with load terminals provided. The devices are rated for 120/240V AC and are calibrated for 40 degrees C maximum ambient applications.

Unexpected voltage spikes, surges and other electrical disturbances can ruin or severely damage computers, VCRs, televisions, fax machines, scanners and copiers, disrupt satellite signals, degrade the performance of audio/video components, and wreak havoc with telecommunications systems. Because no single device can protect an entire home or office against all electrical surges, the best way to prevent damage is by implementing a systematic, tiered surge protection plan that monitors every possible incoming signal path and protects against internally generated power fluctuations, providing protection at the service entrance and at the point of use.

The first line of defense is protection at the point of entry where electricity enters a home through the main electrical service panel—and surges and voltage spikes from lightning hits enter the electrical system.  Installing a Circuit Breaker and Surge Protective Device at the service entrance of a home, diverts surges to ground before they can enter the premises.

The second line of defense is where homeowners can reinforce point-of-entry protection by installing plug-in surge protectors (strips) into grounded wall receptacles where sensitive electronic equipment is located. These plug-in protectors, which generally have much lower limiting voltages than entry protectors, defend against externally and internally generated surges that travel through power, phone, data, and coaxial lines. Plug-in power strips should minimally include AC power protection and appropriate signal line protection and should protect against both catastrophic and small surges. These devices should be installed wherever expensive or sensitive electronic equipment like computers, VCRs, fax machines, PCs with modems, satellite systems, stereo systems, copiers and scanners are located. All types of equipment with signal lines, such as phones, cable TV, and satellites should be equipped with multi-port protectors, which protect signal and AC lines.

These specialized service entrance protectors can be added to protect cable TV and telephone lines, and to minimize damage to TV sets and modems (not included).

Residential electrical system including Panelboard, internal wiring, receptacles, switches, dimmers and lamp holders
Hard wired appliances including refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, ranges, ovens, washers, dishwashers, dryers, pool pumps, pool heaters, hot tubs, hydro-message spas, electric hot water heaters and electric furnaces.

The Circuit Breaker and Surge Protective Device warranty does NOT cover these types of appliances (including but not limited to): computers, VCRs, televisions, fax machines, scanners and copiers, audio/video components, and telecommunications systems.

Siemens’ payment for catastrophic event related damage or loss to a protected electrical system is limited to reasonable direct costs per occurrence and does not include time, travel or indirect costs.  Warranty coverage is secondary to service contracts and all other forums of applicable facility, property or equipment loss insurance carried by Customer.  Warranty coverage is for a single catastrophic event during the two year period.  After a covered event the Circuit Breaker and Surge Protective Device must be replaced.  No payment on the Circuit Breaker and Surge Protective Device warranty shall exceed $20,000.

Damage or loss associated with Acts of God such as Flood and Earthquake, and War, Insurrection, Vandalism, Theft, Normal-use Wear and Tear, Erosion, Depletion, Obsolescence, Abuse, Non-authorized Program or Equipment Modification, or Alteration is excluded.  Software, Data, Virus Interaction, or Indirect Losses are also excluded from warranty protection.

Warranty period shall be twenty-four (24) months from the date of proper installation but not to exceed thirty (30) months from the date of purchase.
Claims for the Siemens protector listed above must include an original purchase receipt. You must first receive authorization from Siemens before proceeding with repairs. A written report will be required and you should save all of your repair receipts.
